Ingredients
Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid) – A sustained release Vitamin C supplement is very important in building collagen, it is also important for building the matrix upon which the bone is laid down. Additionally Vitamin C is an essential anti-oxidant, which sweeps the body of destructive free radicals, which are destructive to joint health.
Vitamin E (as d-Alpha Tocopheryl acetate) – Vitamin E
is an antioxidant (like Vitamin C) that protects the body and its
joints from free radicals, with properties indicating that it can help
prevent or slow joints from becoming progressively worse. It is known to
slow the aging process at the cell level, ease arthritic pain, reduces
muscle soreness and damage after activity and has anti inflammatory
properties.
Vitamin B-2 (riboflavin) – Also called “riboflavin”. It is essential for the manufacture, growth, maintenance and repair of tissues like skin, hair, connective tissue and the immunity system. Vitamin B2 is involved in cell growth, the formation of red blood cells and antibodies.
Niacinamide – Vitamin B3, also known as niacin, may
help treat a common joint disorder called osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis
occurs when the cartilage between your bones wears away at your joints.
This is a common condition associated with aging. Genetics, fractures
or other injuries and long-term overuse of your joints from work or
sports may also make you susceptible to osteoarthritis.
Vitamin B-6 (as pyridoxine hcl) – Vitamin B6 and
foliate (folic acid) are the two B-vitamins most likely to be lacking in
people with arthritis. These two cousin chemicals from the B-vitamin
family are lacking in the population at large – for example, one study
found 90 percent of women don’t get enough B6 in their diets. There’s
also evidence that the inflammation process in people with rheumatoid
arthritis rapidly uses up these B vitamins. This is not good news for
arthritis sufferers as these B vitamins are active in a variety of
bodily functions, including the manufacturing of protein, the building
block for tissues such as cartilage.
Vitamin B12 (cyamocbalamin) – A vitamin important
for the normal formation of red blood cells and the health of the nerve
tissues. Undetected and untreated vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to
anemia and permanent nerve and brain damage. The human body needs
vitamin B12 to make red blood cells, nerves, DNA, and carry out other
functions. Vitamin B12 relieves joint pain and inflammation caused by
bursitis by regulating the action of the immune cells responsible for
the inflammation and pain.
Manganese (sulfate) – Magnesium deficiency appears
to be linked to several chronic joint pain conditions. In the body,
magnesium converts Vitamin D, which the body needs to take advantage of
bone-strengthening calcium – into a form that it can use efficiently.
Magnesium is known to keep the nervous system calm and relaxed, it
ensures smooth blood circulation and strengthens bones too. Depletion in
the level of this important element makes the body’s health plummet
into serious muscle tension, fatigue, spasms and cramps.
Zinc (amino acid chelate) – Painful hip and knee joints have been linked to zinc deficiency, this is because the bones contain a large amount of zinc and any deficiency will cause them to become thicker and shorter causing pain and other symptoms. Also the body’s ability to heal would be compromised if there were a zinc deficiency.
Selenium (amino acid chelate) – Selenium is one of the “essential” nutrients for humans, meaning that our bodies cannot make it, and so we have to get it from our diet. Rheumatoid arthritis suffers often have a selenium deficiency. It is speculated that selenium, an antioxidant, can help to relieve arthritis symptoms by regulating free radical production and preventing damage to healthy tissues. In addition selenium regulates immune function, which may account for selenium’s beneficial effect in rheumatoid arthritis, and autoimmune condition.
Copper (amino acid chelate) – Copper is an essential
trace mineral that may facilitate the activity of ceruloplasmin and
copper-zinc superoxide dismutase. These compounds have antioxidant and
anti-inflammatory properties that may prevent the onset of chronic joint
conditions. Copper has long been known to play a role in human health —
its use dates back to 400 B.C., when Hippocrates is said to have
employed it as a treatment for a variety of disorders.
Chromium (amino acid chelate) – Chromium helps the body produce energy from foods, helps the brain function and helps the body break down insulin, keeping the body’s blood sugar level normal.
Glucosamine Sulfate – Glucosamine, a sugar produced in the body and found in small amounts in foods, plays an important role in maintaining cartilage, the gel-like material that cushions joints.
Chondroitin Sulfate – A natural component of the cartilage that cushions joints, chondroitin sulfate seems to block the enzymes that can destroy this crucial tissue. For this reason it has become a popular dietary supplement for the treatment of arthritis. Some studies indicate that it may even be as effective at relieving osteoarthritis pain as aspirin and other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)–without posing the same risk for gastrointestinal problems. Chondroitin is also a “raw material” nutrient for cartilage, connective tissues and lubricating factors within the joints. It supports the plump, cushy, hydrated “shock absorber” cartilage that is necessary for optimum joint health.
Shark Cartilage – is a 100% natural supplement that is widely used for the repair and maintenance of joint health. It is said to bring relief to sufferers of arthritis, osteoarthritis and sport-induced tissue pain. Shark cartilage can be used for short-term relief or as an ongoing supplement to maintain joint tissue health. Considerable research has been carried out by renowned biochemists around the world and there is increasing evidence that shark cartilage supplements may improve quality of life for sufferers of conditions such as osteoarthritis, psoriasis, rashes and other inflammatory irritations.
New Zealand Green Lipped Sea Mussel – Is a nutritional supplement made from the extract of green shell mussels and is commonly used to relieve pain caused by arthritis and other joint-related problems. Although better known as a supplement to manage arthritis, green lipped mussel products are also believed to promote skin health, strong bones and teeth, healthier circulatory and immune systems promoting overall human health.
MSM – Although you may never have heard of it, the organic sulfur compound known as MSM (short for methylsulfonylmethane) is contained in minute amounts in everyone’s blood and most foods. MSM appears to inhibit pain impulses that travel along nerve fibers, acting as an analgesic. This property, along with the compound’s potential anti-inflammatory actions, is often cited in explaining its use for combating the symptoms of arthritis, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome and allergies.
L-Histidine – Histidine regulates the immune defense in the body, allergic reactions and inflammatory processes, so a deficiency of L-histidine can lead to an increased tendency towards infection and the aggravation of symptoms of allergies. L-histidine can have a therapeutic effect in cases of inflammation and can therefore be used in the treatment of arthritis and to help reduce the symptoms of allergies.
Boron (amino acid chelate) – Boron is a biologically dynamic ultra trace element important in human metabolism. Studies show that it is a metabolic regulator and plays an important role in cell membrane function. Recent studies suggest that boron is important for calcium utilization in the body. In human deficiency studies, supplementation with boron improved several parameters including mental alertness, memory, mineral metabolism, and blood hemoglobin.
Alfalfa Powder – Alfalfa powder is made from fresh, green vigorously growing plants of Medicago sativa and contains no additives or artificial colors. Alfalfa is one of natures richest sources of nutrients, it is high in chlorophyll and is rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, trace minerals, enzymes and all the known vitamins, including beta carotene, K and U. Compounds in alfalfa also have anti-inflammatory properties possibly making them useful in conditions that involve inflammation, such as asthma and arthritis.
Yucca Extract – Yucca has been used for years by the Southwestern Indians for pain and inflammation caused by arthritis and rheumatism. It is also said to reduce joint inflammation and has been used with success for allergies and to strengthen the immune system.
Devils Claw (powder) – The deserts of southern Africa are home to the peculiar-looking devil’s claw plant (Harpagophytum procumbens), so named because of the distinctively shaped tips of its fruits. For years, people indigenous to the African continent dug up the plant’s large tuberous roots, chopped them up, and let them dry in the sun. From the dried roots, they then prepared healing formulations to treat arthritis, fever, indigestion, and a number of other conditions. Today many herbalists consider devil’s claw effective in treating the aching and stiffness of arthritic joints.
Cetyl Myristoteleate - (CMO) has achieved truly amazing results in alleviating the symptoms of osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and a host of other chronic conditions proposed to act as a joint “lubricant” and anti-inflammatory agent.
